Vol. 4 / JULY 2023
HAPPY SUMMER EVERYONE!
Dear BC/IWS CANADA Members,
Hope you all had a fun and festive Canada Day and now you can officially start your Summer activities.
First and foremost, I would like to THANK all the members that have been so kind in participating in the ‘GETTING TO KNOW YOU” initiative, it gives me great joy to say I already have a few artists waiting for the Fall schedule, but if you are still thinking about it, please know that YOUR participation is very important! Please do not get intimidated by any of our fellow artists, be proud of where you are in your art practice and share your journey. We all have a story to tell and we look forward to Getting to Know YOU!… So, please contact me directly to be added for the FALL/WINTER schedule. Next presentation is September 8th.
During the Summer I will not be sending a regular Newsletter, next one will be in September, but I will be sending information in early August about the WATERCOULOUR SUMMIT Demo Artists and other information about the Summit as I know it. This is an event in BRITISH COLUMBIA with International representation for IWS CANADA, let’s help making it a success and watch for all the information coming up… Hope you plan to attend and participate!
I am enclosing information on exhibitions and workshops from our BC members. If you have any ART activities you want to share, please contact me and I will be delighted to work together!
Wishing you all a Summer full of inspiration and fun!
Growing together in Art.
Thank you,
Celinda Stevens

| PEGGY BURKOSKYIt has been a great honour for me to follow on Peggy’s footsteps in being your IWS CANADA/BC Representative, many of you would love to hear from her and know what she is up to now, and new members would love to meet her… on her own words, here is Peggy. | Summer 2023 Activities For the 2023 summer season, living on the west coast of British Columbia, I have been painting en plein air and assisting my husband Bob with our commercial fishing business of over 45 years. We have just spent fishing time in Coal Harbour, one of the most northern harbours on Vancouver Island. Coal Harbour is a fascinating, historical location. Among many turns of events, it has been a home base to the Royal Canadian Airforce during WW2, and later a whale processing station. Currently it houses a museum of its fascinating past and is a hub of seaplane and boating traffic for sports fishing lodges, commercial fishing offloading and active 1st Nations participation in the business of the North Coast. In a quiet waterfront meadow, from our retro motorhome, I have painted scenes from the harbour, whilst Bob has left the secure harbour to fish the open sea off the west coast of Vancouver Island. Please enjoy my rendition and Youtube demo of the fishing vessels at rest in this quiet harbour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IQVsFSg9fA President Federation of Canadian Artists Arrowsmith Chapter Websites: Peggy Burkosky Federation Gallery | |
