We will have a gallery for our members, sponsors like RockWell Art Canada and De Serres with booths. Tables available to rent for the weekend to sell your work, contests, giveaways, Workshops from your favourite pros and much much more!

IWS CANADA – UNITED THROUGH WATERCOLOUR 

September 5th to 8th 2024 –Guidelines for Entry

SUBMISSION DATE:

● Submissions and entry fees due no later than July 1st, 2024.

ENTRY FEE: 

• $50 for up to 2 submissions (Fee is non-refundable.)

• Fees are payable via e-transfer to iwscanada@gmail.com

POSTAGE:

• If mailing paintings, Cost of postage (both ways) is not included, and is the responsibility of the artist. 

• Sending prints in place of original art is acceptable.  

• We will create a program featuring all submissions to the show. 

• Please email iwscanada@gmail.com for any questions. The theme is open, and available for entry for all members of either IWS Canada or any IWS Chapter worldwide.

• Prizes: we will have prizes awarded at the show of various art materials donated by our sponsors. More info to come. 

MATERIALS

• Paints are limited to any water-based, water-soluble medium: watercolours, gouache, egg tempera, or water-based inks. Acrylic paint is acceptable, except on canvas. 

• Substrates are limited to paper based, Yupo, TerraSkin, clayboard, Aquaboard, watercolour ground on canvas. 

• Watercolour paper, TerraSkin and Yupo may be adhered to a rigid archival backing such
as stretched canvas, canvas board or panel. 

• A painting may contain up to 10% of extraneous material other than water-based paints and substrates as described in #6 and #7 above. 

FRAMING AND MATTING

All paintings submitted for a show shall be framed.
If you wish us to frame it for you, please contact us for prices based on the size of your painting.

Frame sizes:

• No more than 27” x 34” framed

If you are sending unframed artwork, please use:

• 1/2 sheet (15in x 22in or 38cm x 56cm)

• 1/4 sheet (11in x 15in or 28cm x 38cm)

Note: Other sizes are acceptable (up to a half sheet size)

Costs (in CAD):

• A flat fee of $50 for participation (up to 2 paintings)

• A flat fee of $100 for framing (if required) for painting paper up to 15in x 22in.

• A flat rate of $60 for printing on image size up to 15” x 22” 

• Paintings delivered for hanging must be clearly identified on the back with the artist’s name, painting title and price. 

• Fees are payable via e-transfer to iwscanada@gmail.com

ORIGINALITY

Paintings must be the sole original work of the member artist. A member artist may not submit the work of another artist, either under her/his own name or any other name.

• Paintings produced at a workshop or in a class under an instructor may not be submitted. 

• Copying of another artist’s original work, of a reproduction of another artist’s work, or of
a published professional photo is not permitted. 

• AI “art” is not permitted!

VENDOR TABLES

Tables will be available for the cost of $300 for the duration of the show. If you would like to have a table from which you can sell your work, please email us at iwscanada@gmail.com to reserve. Space is limited, and we have maximum of 15 tables available.
